Profile Photos - sarahxxx - 20-05-2012

I have had comments made to me by clients about the size of photos on profiles, does Adultwork not limit the size of a photo people can upload?

Looking through profiles just now I clicked open an image and on loading it crashed my computer, although I have 4gb of ram memory it could not cope with the extra load. I rebooted and then took a look at the profile with no other applications open.

The main photo on the profile was a massive 4,000 x 3,000 pixels in size and over 100mb - My screen size is 1360 x 768, so it was about 3 times the width of my monitor. What is the point of uploading a photo that size? Do people not think about the person viewing the photo? Do they not check it themselves? But then you often see profiles with photos that have not been corrected so they are the wrong orientation.

I reduce all my photos to about 600 pixels wide so that it is a decent size for the average computer screen and more than large enough to see the photo properly

How do people with small 15 inch laptops or tablets cope with this

It's just one of those things!

It can be really annoying but I'd rather have to reduce a photo so I can see it clearly than have one thats really small that you cant really see!

But it does surprise me that the person uploading hasnt checked the size as it must take ages to upload several of those 'whopper sized' photos Smile

I believe AW have a minimum but not a maximum as its left up to the user.

They have an article on tips for uploading here http://www.adultwork.com/dlgKBArticle.asp?TargetURL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Eadultwork%2Ecom%2FdlgKBSearchResults%2Easp%3FCommandID%3D1%26Q%3Dpicture%26T%3D1%26TargetURL%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww%252Eadultwork%252Ecom%252FdlgFAQsNew%252Easp&T=1&Q=picture&ArticleID=51

I dont recall any free gallery images being bigger than the screen so there may be something in place there to reduce the size. However I have seen the main profile images alot larger than the screen.

I would think most people dont check the images themselves, aslong as the thumbnail is displaying then they know its been uploaded and move onto the next thing.

I have to resize mine just to get them to load so dont know how people manage to load massive ones lol
