Ok ok ok first I have to admit for someone who's worked with computers for many years my technical knowledge is shocking! Though I've probably had help for this in the past the information just doesnt stick with me!
Im posting on this forum because I have a feeling somewhere on I saw someone say they can help with this sort of stuff?? I may have imagined this but cant help putting it out there..
My laptop keeps freezing/not responding and I dont just mean the internet, every part of it. Its getting worse and driving me crazy
and my minds a blank what do to fix it

That keeps happening with my old laptop. I went out and bought a new one. I think it is due to over use, over heating and too much up at the same time, but I think Mr Smiths is your man.

lol my last one over heat so much that to work i used to sit my laptop on 2 ice packs. 2 computer shops couldnt fix it so I gave up and got this one.
Well I've updated my anti virus, took my videos off and let it do a "disk check" (i dont know what this is but if its so important it really shouldn't give you the option to skip it
so far so good we live to fight another day

I have to admit this time round I went to pcworld and got the 'anytime' package so if anything goes wronng they will fix it or replace it with no questions asked. I went for the standard, which means up to 21 days to get repaired, but I still have my old computer for back up, so I reckon that will be fine.
My old one the battery broke on it ages ago and if I accidently unplugged it or the lead came out it would just turn off with no warning and I would lose what I was doing and then have to start all over again. such a pain in the neck!

My problem with those packages and even warranty cover is I work every day and cant afford to be without it for too long, I have 2 repair shops near by and they do a same day job for me. My old one works okay still Mr Jem uses it, his basic usage seems to be okay (the last repair attempt had some effect) so I have a back up now if this goes wrong. Last time I said I would put money aside in case this one broke and did I..course I didnt that would be far too organised ha ha

I am the same, have been driving cars for years and would not ever lift the bonnet.
Glad you got it fixed.
For Antivirus we use a program called Avast, apparently it is the best free one there is, not sure if it has been mentioned before but another free tool is one called CCleaner, which is something that gets rid of all the crap from Windoze
I have a lap top that is about 8 years old, but it does not get used much
