What are the chances of catching an STD during unprotected?

In the UK, the chances of contracting HIV from protected sex, if the condom is used properly, is indeed pretty low. But there are other things, notably gonorrhoea and Chlamydia, that are much, much more common, and can also be passed on via oral. Some cases of gonorrhoea are becoming resistant to antibiotics and can be tough to treat.

Also, I think your rationale about city vs country is severely flawed. Not only do people move about, but in metropolitan areas if anything they're more likely to be safe sex savvy.

Bottom line, never bareback an escort OR a civvy - the latter at least until you know them well/both go for a screen first.

This just seems like complete and utter paranoia to me. Even in the rare case somebody has something, the chances of transmission are small. I mean without a condom, with one obviously they are non existent, but that was not my question.


My question was about catching HIV, or any of the major diseases, from somebody without a condom. From what I have read the chance of transmission is 1 in 3000 without a condom even if the person had HIV in the first place. Less than .5% of the population even have HIV, it is that rare. You can work out 104000 as a percentage of 68 million if you want, but it is less than half a percent so there really is no point. I haven't looked up the stats on the other major diseases, let's just stick to this one for the sake of the argument.

I disagree with your statement that my rationale is flawed, there are very few people in the smaller towns that would have any kind of STD, let alone the dangerous ones.

Why is bareback considered so dangerous then? You seem to be one of those people who think that you can magically create an STD just because you don't use a condom.

I really don't understand the danger, it makes me angry TBH.
