Quote:Another question. With the restrictions as they are. Would the software in schools interpret it as adult content, or would the children be able to gain access to it? I do understand your situation is not easy, but some compromises are a compromise too much.

I checked where I work, and it is blocked by our provider, Lightspeed systems.
But every student has access to a blackberry and can read the unprotected twitter feed.

Unfortunately Kate, your blog only does the above if you enter from the main page. All your pages are indexed by Google and other search engines and often people follow a link to one of those pages, bypassing the Adult Content Warning.

Sarah

PS I have the same problem and am looking into a solution

Thankfully I don't really use my blog for adult content, but thanks for that Sarah as I will be even more careful now I know that. If you find a solution, please do share.

I think its a great idea making the forum public for advertising purposes. Whatever works. Our messages are public property given they are on a public forum! If I want to correspond privately I will send an email.

Does it not bother you that children can gain access to this site and for instance see pictures of naked women and women with cum all over their faces? Ok, so they may not twig at what it's all about when they are very little, but 8, 9, 10 years of age? Coupled with the topics of conversation?

It really is an 18+ site and some caution should be taken in my opinion.

Whilst not ideal, if little tinkers want to find that sort of stuff they, like everyone else, are free to do as they wish. They will be seeing it soon enough in any event. It's not as though we are hunting down young children to smear them with our hairy old cream pies. It's a little bit like people complaining about strip clubs but those who avail themselves of the services are not exactly under duress.

But then, I'm weird.

Well, to me the whole subject of Private / Public should be taken seriously. On the one hand, I can understand why Admin want the site more public; the site will get more traffic and it will be more appealing to advertisers who will pay money to help run the site. On the other hand, the site has been going for some time now and the Members have been safe in the knowledge that the site was secure and you could post what you liked knowing that only Members can see. That to me is where the whole problem lies with a lot of Member - privacy.

I have already said why I am concerned and I am sure others will have similar problems.

We also have the concern over pictures. The privacy of a private Members only site ensured that the pictures could only be seen by Members. With the site being more public, that will be comprimised. I well understand that this site is to an extent protected by the 18+ warnings and that any youngster who hasnt been restained by parents / school etc would be able to access adult sites but at least if you have to be a Member, it did keep the vast majority out.

I think we have less to worry about from Minors accessing the site - we should be more concerned about all and sundry being able to access what was previous a secure area. Precautions taken now with what you say and type will not protect from what has already been typed. Davidseven states that he has already felt the need to modify some of his posts - for those with 1,000, 2,000, 3,000 posts that might take some time to do!

See I have an image of some child having a school project about say, 'work in a recession' and putting in the key words of 'adult' 'work' 'recession' and at the top of the list pops up 'Adultworkforum' and the child thinks, brill, I can ask real adults about their work and if they had a problem getting a job. Then they take a look on the site and what do they see? Louise Lloyd in all her glory with tutu and various fleshy bits or the esquisite but very naked body of KDB.

Not all children actively look for sexual titterlation and not all children are ready for it at an early age. Who knows what we might be unleashing and who knows what they might come up with for their school project. Now there is a lesson I'd love to be a fly on the wall for.
